April Showers
There’s a proverb that says, "April showers bring May flowers". April, traditionally, is a rainy period which gives way to May when flowers will bloom because of the water provided to them by the April rains.
No matter how hard we try to avoid the "April showers” we can't. We have to endure the season of rain because it is a part of the process. Rain is a necessary step in the process of growth. At times it is hard to grasp how a period of discomfort can provide the gateway for a period of happiness, but if you look at the cycles of life, the proverb yields truth. A pregnant woman can and will endure moments of discomfort and pain up until it’s finally time to give birth, at which point a different type of discomfort and pain kicks in, a more enduring discomfort. After several pushes and screams come the joy of seeing this small little face. The whole experience usually brings tears of happiness. The pain (showers) is necessary for the flowers to emerge. It’s inevitable with life there will be rainy days, but what helps us get through those moments is our Heavenly Father who heals the brokenhearted. The Lord is the hope that is needed in those rainy seasons that helps us to not give up before we see the flowers.
In Ezekiel 34:26 (NKJV) reads, “I will make them and the places all around My hill a blessing; and I will cause showers to come down in their season; there shall be showers of blessing.”
The enemy would like for you to believe that nothing good will prosper after the April showers so what was only supposed to last for a season ended up lasting a lifetime. Recently, I’ve gone through more “April Showers” than I would like to admit, constantly asking God "why”? I endured the rain, not quitting, not giving up, not allowing the enemy to make me think that he would win, and now I’m in the midst of receiving my May flowers. I’m on the other side of the rain where beauty exists.
No one truly knows how long the April showers will last, but what I do know is this: God is our guide and with our faith and trust in Him, we can be assured that the rain won’t last always.
